James MacGilp

Brief Summary

James joined Dundee's Renaissance Martial Arts Society in late 2011, where he learned German Longsword and Broadsword and Buckler. After a few years, he was promoted to an instructor role, and began teaching every week. Some of his favoured disciplines include German Longsword, Broadsword, and a variety of knife fighting systems.


Teaching Experience

James teaches regularly at Dundee-based RMAS and has taught lessons at The Institute for Historical Arts. He also taught a lesson of Highland Knife Fighting at the AHA Loch Lomond event.

- 16th century German longsword

James also studies a varied array of knife fighting disciplines, including American Bowie Knife, Highland Dirk, and Spanish Navaja.
